Hypetex at London Design Festival

Hypetex was introduced to the design world with a major display at central London’s leading show designjunction in September. Over 25,000 visitors attended the exhibition, held over four days at the iconic Old Sorting Office on New Oxford Street.

The display featured three Halo chairs, created entirely from Hypetex by designer Michael Sodeau, revolving on plinths with light glittering off the coloured carbon fibre surfaces.

The idea behind the Halo chair was to create an object that could best define and present the Hypetex material. Michael Sodeau utilised the high-performance properties of Hypetex, which is lightweight, strong and visually vibrant. The result was a highly-refined piece with both stability and a visual lightness that reflects the qualities of the material.

Michael Sodeau said: “Hypetex has opened door in terms of new design possibilities. Its strength, lightness and vibrant colour options make it an exciting new material for the design industry.”

The Halo chair is a limited-edition piece that is available in six colours, with only three produced in each colour.
